Fiber: wool
Type: Optim™ treated commercial
top
Preparation for Spinning: Top was sectioned lengthwise and
crosswise to obtain pieces that were a manageable size.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: This was a new fiber for me
and this requirement afforded me the opportunity to try it. It was
wonderfully prepared, very white and lustrous.
Type of Spinning: short forward draw spun from the fold
Equipment Used: Bosworth top whorl spindle 1.5oz
Direction of Twist: Z
Number of Plies: singles
Weight of Skein:
Finishing: Yarn was wound onto a skeiner, steamed, and hung to
dry.
Length of yarn: 240 yds
Suggested Uses: Knitted lace, crochet lace, or
bobbin lace. The smooth surface of the treated fiber will show off lace
patterns really well. I loved working with this fiber and plan on
spinning more for a Shetland style “ring” shawl.
