Extra Fine smooth singles yarn 50 or more wraps per inch
 
Fiber:  cotton
Type:  Commercial pima cotton sliver
Preparation for Spinning:  Fiber was well prepared but very compressed.  It was re-carded into batts on extra-fine hand cards.
Reason for Choice of this Sample:  Readily available and affordable fiber.  Plus, this particular cotton has been in my fiber stash forever and needed to leave.
Type of Spinning:  short forward draw
Equipment Used:  hand cards (clemes & clemes), bobbin flyer wheel (schacht)
Direction of Twist:  Z
Number of Plies:  singles
Weight of Skein: 
Finishing:  Yarn was gently skeined and boiled for 30 min.  Yarn was placed back on skeiner to dry.
Length of yarn: 
Suggested Uses:  This yarn could be used for hand sewing thread--perhaps in a re-enactment demonstration.  Plied, this yarn could be used with an antique tape loom for fine woven tapes.
