Type: natural green and blended light green commercial cotton
sliver
Preparation for Spinning: Both slivers were carded together
into batts using extra-fine cotton hand cards.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: I didn't have enough of
either color to meet the weight requirment. Carding both together
gave me the necessary ounces and produced added color interest.
Type of Spinning: supported long draw
Equipment Used: hand cards, bobbin flyer wheel
Direction of Twist: Z
Number of Plies: singles
Weight of Skein:
Finishing: Yarn
was gently skeined and
boiled for 40 minutes in a soda based detergent and
water to darken the color. Yarn was rinsed, partially dried on the
skeiner and hung to finish drying.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses: This yarn could be used for bobbin lace.
It would also be great for kitchen toweling. Mixed with a similar
white cotton yarn for a plaid pattern, this green would match my
Mother's kitchen perfectly. (Another incentive to learn to weave?)
