Preparation for Spinning: Top was carded into rolags using
fine hand cards. This loosened the compressed fiber and smoothed
the irregular draft.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: This fiber has only recently
become more available to the average spinner and the shorter staple was
well suited to this equipment requirement.
Type of Spinning: short forward draw
Equipment Used: Spindolyn™
supported spindle
Direction of Twist: Z
Number of Plies: singles
Weight of Skein:
Finishing: Yarn was wound onto a skeiner, washed in detergent
to remove processing oils, rinsed and dried on the skeiner.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses: I would not recommend this particular
skein for any hard wearing project. The short fibers are likely to pill
in this soft spun yarn. This yarn could be used for a scarf. However,
if I could weave well enough, I would use it for weft in a sofa throw
with a variegated merino warp.
