Skein 21

Extra fine smooth yarn  50 or more wraps per inch

Fiber:  silk
Type:  Bombyx mulberry silk brick
Preparation for Spinning:  Fiber was separated into sections lengthwise and crosswise for easier handling.  No other preparation was necessary.
Reason for Choice of this Sample:  This was an opportunity for me to try a new form of silk--the brick.  I was slightly disappointed with the amount of variation in the fiber length.  I don't find this as noticeable with commercial silk sliver.
Type of Spinning:  short forward draw
Equipment Used:  bobbin flyer wheel
Direction of Twist:  Z
Number of Plies:  singles
Weight of Skein:
Finishing:  Yarn was wound onto a pvc bobbin and boiled in water and detergent for 30 minutes to remove processing sericin residue.   Yarn was rinsed, wound onto a  skeiner, partially dried and hung to finish drying
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses:  Bobbin lace or fine lace knitting. Personally I would prefer this yarn with a little more twist added and then plied.
