Preparation for Spinning: Top was pre-drafted to aid in
spinning. Drafted fiber was wound onto a wrist distaff.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: Not the usual color found in
commercial camel tops. Excellent preparation.
Type of Spinning: short forward draw
Equipment Used: high whorl drop spindle
Direction of Twist: Z, S
Number of Plies: 2
Weight of Skein: 1.2oz
Finishing: Yarn
was skeined, washed and hung
to dry.
Length of yarn: 228 yards
Suggested Uses: Knitted vest or scarf. For the
vest, I would use a open pattern so the garment was lighter weight and
wasn’t encouraged to stretch or sag.
