Skein 30

A color scheme other than Monochromatic

Fiber:  wool
Type:  commercial dyed wool top
Preparation for Spinning:  Tops were sectioned into 4" lengths and thinned to approximately 4" wide.  Fiber was fed into a drumcarder in red, yellow, blue repetition allowing some overlap of colors.  Carded batts were drafted into sliver.
Reason for Choice of this Sample:  This is one of my favorite grades of wool top to work with and the deep dye colors allowed lots of combinations to occur in the carded fibers.
Type of Spinning:  short forward draft
Equipment Used:  drumcarder, bobbin flyer wheel  (louet s-90)
Direction of Twist:  Z, S
Number of Plies:  4
Weight of Skein:
Finishing:  Yarn was wound onto a skeiner, washed, and hung to dry.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses:  This is just a nice knitting yarn for a pullover or cardigan.  I would choose a pullover with a crew neckline and saddle sleeves.  The color changes in the yarn would be subtle but pretty across the knitted fabric.
