Preparation for Spinning: Tops were sectioned into 4" lengths
and thinned to approximately 4" wide. Fiber was fed into a
drumcarder in red, yellow, blue repetition allowing some overlap of
colors. Carded batts were drafted into sliver.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: This is one of my favorite
grades of wool top to work with and the deep dye colors allowed lots of
combinations to occur in the carded fibers.
Finishing: Yarn
was wound onto askeiner, washed, and hung
to dry.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses: This is just a nice knitting yarn for a
pullover or cardigan. I would choose a pullover with a crew
neckline and saddle sleeves. The color changes in the yarn would
be subtle but pretty across the knitted fabric.
