Skein 32

Yarn of consistent quality with different fibers in each single

Fiber:  wool, dog, alpaca, mohair
Type:  Romeldale fleece, pyrenean mastiff combings, alpaca fleece, young adult mohair fleece.
Preparation for Spinning:  Fibers were washed in detergent, rinsed and air dried.  Using a drumcarder, the wool and dog were blended together and the alpaca and mohair were blended together.  Resulting batts were drafted into sliver.
Reason for Choice of this Sample:  Dog hair, alpaca, and wool are from my own animals.  The very shiny alpaca/mohair yarn is a nice contrast to to the off white, slightly hairy dog/wool blend.
Type of Spinning:  supported long draw
Equipment Used:  drumcarder, bobbin flyer wheel
Direction of Twist:  Z, S
Number of Plies:  2
Weight of Skein:
Finishing:  Yarn was skeined, steamed with  a handheld steamer and dried on the skeiner.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses:  This yarn is soft and fuzzy, but still has strength.  It would make a nice knitted beret or a combination knitted and crocheted ruana.
