Preparation for Spinning: Silk sliver was dyed with acid dye,
rinsed and dried. Wool, and silk slivers were torn into sections
and picked together with a triple picker. Picked fibers were fed
into a drumcarder with the angelina fiber sprinked on top. Batts
were torn into strips for spinning.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: This was the test blend for a
project several years ago and kept four ounces in my stash and never
used it. This seemed like a good opportunity to break it out.
Unfortunately, I didn't keep samples of the original component parts.
Finishing: Yarn
was wound onto a skeiner,
washed, partially dried on skeiner, and hung to finish drying.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses: Knit or crochet hat, scarf and mitten sets.
This yarn could be used for socks--but it's a little bulky for that.
While some people do use cabled yarn for sock knitting, I don't believe
this yarn has enough elasticity to hold good shape for socks.
