Special effect yarn produced by spinning around a core.
Fiber: wool, mohair
Type: Suffolk fleece, kid mohair fleece
Preparation for Spinning: Fleeces were washed using detergent,
rinsed and air dried. Wool was picked to remove vegetable matter
and carded into batts using a drumcarder. Batts were torn into
sections for spinning. Mohair locks were opened slightly by hand
to aid in spinning but preserve the curl.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: Suffolk wool provided a
strong core for the mohair to adhere to. The contrast of white
wool and natural color mohair gives the yarn extra punch.
