Special effect yarn, either singles or plied, featuring the amount of twist as design factor
 
Fiber:  Wool
Type:  Dyed commercial wool top
Preparation for Spinning:  top was torn into pieces and carded using a drumcarder in a random color order.  Batts were torn into strips and carded again feeding horizontal to the original carding pass.  Finished batts were finger drafted into sliver.
Reason for Choice of this Sample:  This blend consists of every color top from my fiber stash.  It is medium soft, good color fastness and super easy spinning.
Type of Spinning:  short backward draw

Direction of Twist:  Z

Weight of Skein: 
Finishing:  Yarn was wound onto a  skeiner and removed immediately.  Yarn  was not washed or steamed so there would be no relaxation of twist
Length of yarn: 
Suggested Uses:  This yarn was spun with a scarf in mind using a pattern from Spin-Off magazine.  This yarn could also be used for some of the entrelac sweater and hat patterns using energized singles (ala Kathryn Alexander.
