Preparation for Spinning: Fleece was washed in detergent,
rinsed and air dried. Clean fiber was picked open by hand.
Tencel top was torn into pieces for easier blending. Fibers were
carded into batts on a drumcarder. Batts were separated into
strips for spinning.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: Nice, easy spinning blend.
The white tencel on the natural colored wool gives a frosty look to the
yarn.
Type of Spinning: unsupported long draw
Equipment Used: drumcarder, antique New England great wheel
Direction of Twist: Z
Number of Plies: singles
Weight of Skein:

Suggested Uses: As singles or 2ply this would
be a nice knitted men’s vest or sweater. I don’t like knitting singles
for garments, so I would opt for plying this yarn for that use. As
singles, I would use this yarn for a shawl but only with a pattern that
could handle the color variations in the yarn.
