Preparation for Spinning: Fleece was washed in detergent,
rinsed and air dried. The dried fiber was separated into locks and
combed using 4 pitch English wool combs. The combed fiber was
pulled through a diz into sliver.
Reason for Choice of this Sample: This is wool from one of my
own sheep. A nice clean fleece with good staple length for combing
and very representative of this breed in the U.S.
Finishing: Yarn was wound onto a skeiner, washed, and dried on
the skeiner.
Length of yarn:
Suggested Uses: This yarn could be used for lace knitting, or
for a baby blanket. The worsted technique would allow patterning
in the weave to show up really well--perhaps a traditional diamond weave
pattern.
