The fiber used may be in any form that the applicant deems
suitable for the purpose. The blending is to be done by the
spinner. The size and texture of the yarn and whether the
skeins are singles or plied is at the discretion of the spinner.
The written discussion of blending was
given full points by one examiner and a twelve point deduction by
the other. In the yarns, differences in twist angle and
diameter were noted. This was the only swatch I had deduction
on----and only from one examiner. The yarn used was noted to
be too "docile" due to drying on the skeiner and the swatch was
"skewed".
Note: While the COE handbook does not
specify that you document percentages used in the blending section,
there were comments from the examiners because I did not specify
amounts. In retrospect, I should have seen that one coming.
