The starting sample for each requirement is a lock of raw
fleece. Only fleece prepared for spinning by the applicant
should be used. A different wool breed must be used for each
skein. Include a fine wool, a carpet wool, a luster-type wool,
etc.
I did well on this section. Note:
While the COE handbook makes no mention of not using a fiber more
than once, you probably shouldn't. There was a comment
regarding the fact I spun two skeins with navajo
churro wool--1 in the equipment section and 1 here in the wool
section.
Frankly, the COE is a costly adventure.
It is wasteful to buy even a pound of wool (let alone
a whole fleece) of something that just isn't your "go to
fiber"....and then only spin a one ounce skein of it. Not that
it wasn't nice wool because it really was. I just normally
don't go for the coarser end of the wool spectrum.
